Who you are agreeing with

MP3 to Text is provided by Individual Entrepreneur Aleksandr Gerasimov (Tbilisi, Georgia), part of Bear Tools. Installing or using the extension means you accept these terms.

These terms cover this product specifically and sit alongside the Bear Tools Terms of Service, which apply to everything published under that name. Where the two say different things about this extension, this page is the more specific one and wins.

You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into a contract where you live.

What the product does

MP3 to Text turns audio files into text. It offers two engines: one that runs on your own device, and a cloud engine that uploads the recording to a transcription provider. The panel names the selected engine before every run, and the choice is yours, file by file.

What each engine does with your recording is described in the privacy policy, and that description is part of these terms.

Free minutes

Both engines come with a free allowance of minutes. The on-device allowance is counted in the extension; the cloud allowance is counted by our service against your installation identifier, and it is the service's count that decides whether a run may start.

The allowances are a courtesy, not a purchased entitlement. We may change them, and we may refuse or rate-limit use that looks automated or that is being run at a scale the free tier was not meant to carry. Nothing about a free allowance is a promise that a given file will be transcribed.

Paid plans

There is nothing to buy yet. The panel shows an intended price and lets you leave an email address so we can tell you when paid minutes open; leaving an address is not an order, creates no obligation on either side, and can be undone by asking us to remove it.

When paid plans do open, our order process will be conducted by Paddle.com, which acts as the Merchant of Record for those orders: Paddle handles payment, invoicing and applicable taxes, and its terms and our published refund and cancellation policy apply to the purchase.

Your recordings and your transcripts

Your files and the text produced from them are yours. We claim no ownership of either.

To run the cloud engine we need a narrow, temporary permission: you grant us and our transcription provider the right to store, transmit and process the recording you submit, for as long as it takes to produce your transcript and for the short retention windows set out in the privacy policy, and for no other purpose.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. If a recording captures other people, it is on you — not on us — to have whatever consent or legal basis your jurisdiction requires before sending it anywhere. Recording laws differ sharply from country to country, and in some places from state to state.

Acceptable use

You may not use MP3 to Text to:

• break the law, or process material you have no right to process;
• transcribe recordings made of people without the consent their jurisdiction requires;
• resell, sublicense or redistribute the extension or the transcription service;
• reverse engineer the product, or work around usage limits, the allowance ledger, or payment;
• attack, overload or probe the service, or automate it at a scale it was not offered at;
• harm others, or produce material that is illegal where you or they are.

Accuracy

Speech recognition is a statistical guess, not a recording of what was said. Both engines get words wrong, and they get them wrong most often exactly where it matters — names, numbers, technical terms, crosstalk, accents, poor audio.

Check anything you are going to rely on against the audio. Do not treat a transcript as a legal record, a medical record, or professional advice, and do not use it as the sole basis for a decision that affects someone.

Availability and changes

The product is offered as it is and as it happens to be available. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, including either engine and the free allowances, and we may have to do so without notice when a third party we depend on changes first.

The on-device engine is the part of the product least exposed to that: once its model is downloaded, it works without us.

Third-party services

The cloud engine depends on services operated by other companies, listed in the privacy policy. Their terms govern what they do, we do not control them, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions beyond choosing them and holding them to their agreements with us.

No warranty

To the fullest extent the law allows, MP3 to Text is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind — including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation.

Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be taken away by agreement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for lost profits or lost data, or for anything arising out of an inaccurate transcript or an unavailable service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to this product is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose — which, while the product is free, is zero. This limit does not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Ending this agreement

You can end it at any time by removing the extension, which also deletes everything it kept on your computer. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms or puts the service at risk.

The sections on your recordings, acceptable use, warranties and liability survive the end of this agreement.

Changes to these terms

These terms were last updated on 21 September 2026. If they change materially, the date above moves and the current version is always the one on this page. Continuing to use the product after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law applicable to Individual Entrepreneur Aleksandr Gerasimov at Tbilisi, Georgia, as set out in the Bear Tools Terms of Service. Mandatory consumer protections of your own country of residence continue to apply to you regardless.
